Mark Beavan is in with his daughter Julia. She hit it big when a very large pike nailed her Blue Fox spinner. Scott posted a picture earlier. Unfortunately, they didn’t get a measurement on the beast before they released it. Nonetheless, it was a beauty!
In addition to that huge pike, Julia caught a 27" walleye and her father got himself a 29 incher. They’ve also reported a huge musky follow, but as of yet, no hookups on one. Mike Pettry plans to take Julia out today in search of the king of the Upper French.
Frank Stapp and his friends John and Bob arrived from Pittsburgh. They’re getting themselves reacquainted with the river.
The Kropf/Madden group were in last week. Max Madden and his dad Matt along with Tom Kropf and his two daughters, as well as his sister Lisa and her friend Ziff have been catching bass and anything else that will bite!
After Wednesday’s BBQ, Mike Pettry took Max out in search of a musky. With the heat, Mike wanted to wait until the sun dipped a little, so they didn’t leave the dock until after 7. Staying close to the Lodge, Max hooked into a three-footer that Mike says literally jumped over the net when he dipped it in the water, and the fish got off. They then moved a short distance and had a follow from another 3-footer. A few minutes later, Mike hooked up with, and landed, a 40" after working it on a figure 8. After the release, in the same spot, Max had a 4-footer follow, then had it come back on the figure 8, only to swim away. Seconds later, it came back again but wouldn’t eat. They gave the area a break and moved to another spot, where Max caught a 27" musky! Afterwards, they went back to the spot but never saw the big one again. All this happened within the course of 2 hours!
Ray Liu brought a group of 17 to the Lunge for a 3-day stay. They caught pike and enjoyed some BBQ each of their 3 nights.
Judy Young and her husband Lan along with her sister Becky and husband Tom spent a week at the Lodge. They caught bass and pike, as well as a few walleye that were used for shore lunches.
New arrivals for the coming week are Robert Cook’s group of 3 from Toronto, Chris Davis, his buddy and their 2 boys, and Kate Twigger and her dad Mike.
