Mike Pettry established his new personal best last night when he landed a 51½” Musky! Mike got out for the last hour of daylight with Bob Hochreitor of the Graser Group from Buffalo. Venturing down 5 Mile, Mike says he started by throwing a Big Game Twitch, then switched to a Leo Jerk Bait, before casting ‘Shadzilla’ – a bait given to him by Jay Merics. Mike says he cast it out, and felt like he hooked into a rock, but knew it couldn’t be, since he was casting to open water. The fish rolled on the surface a few times, but more so just dug. It came up once, and Bob tried to net it, but could not get it all, so he pulled away and the fish dove under the boat. Mike got it back up, and this time, Bob was able to net her. On the bump board, the top of the tail hit 51, but the bottom of the tail being slightly longer, hit the ½” mark! The sad part about this story was that neither of them brought a camera! Mike noted that Bob will now always be remembered by him as part of his life history – pals!
